Discover Xandeum pNodes: Power Solana's Scalable Storage

Xandeum pNodes provide decentralized storage capacity for Solana-connected applications. This post explains what pNodes do, how they support Xandeum Buckets, and what operators should review before participating.

What Are Xandeum pNodes?

pNodes, or Provider Nodes, are the storage-provider layer of Xandeum. Solana is designed for fast execution, while pNodes provide distributed storage capacity for data in Xandeum Buckets.

pNodes use erasure coding to split and spread data across nodes with redundancy. If a node goes down, your data stays safe. It’s reliable and simple.

How Do pNodes Work with Solana?

Running a pNode requires reliable infrastructure, current software, and ongoing operation. At a high level:

  • Data In: dApps send data to pNodes via “poke” commands, wrapped in Solana instructions.
  • Storage: Data is sliced, encoded, and stored across pNodes with your chosen redundancy level.
  • Data Out: Use “peek” to grab data or “prove” to verify it’s untampered.

vNodes, or validators with Xandeum software, oversee integrity. Tools such as XandMiner and Herrenberg are designed to help operators monitor and manage their pNodes.

Why Run a pNode? Top Perks

pNodes support the Xandeum storage network in several ways:

  • Storage capacity: pNodes provide storage for Xandeum Buckets.
  • Network reliability: operators help keep data available and responsive.
  • Participation: eligible operators may qualify for programs such as STOINC or XFDP, depending on current rules.
  • Monitoring: operators can use available tools to review pNode status and performance.
  • Community: operators can join Xandeum channels for updates and support.

Start Your pNode Today

Before running a pNode, review the current operator documentation and hardware requirements:

  • Prepare supported infrastructure, including storage and stable internet.
  • Install the current Xandeum pNode software.
  • Register and monitor the pNode through supported tools.
  • Keep software updated and maintain reliable performance.
