Xandeum is taking a giant leap forward, leaving the our first Innovation Era of the Deep South, and releasing Munich, the first milestone of our South Era and a game-changer for our decentralized storage layer on Solana. This release introduces a fully functional pNode prototype, setting the stage for scalable, smart contract-native storage that powers data-intensive dApps. We’re urging all pNode operators to upgrade from Freiburg to Munich to experience groundbreaking features and expansions, including an enhanced XandMiner with analytics. Let’s dive into what makes Munich revolutionary.
A Milestone in the South Era
The Munich release kicks off the South Era, the second of Xandeum’s seven innovation eras planned for 2025. Unlike the Freiburg release, Munich delivers a full working prototype of our Provider Nodes (pNodes), marking a pivotal step toward a scalable, tamper-proof storage layer for Solana. pNodes offload data storage from validators using erasure coding and Xandeum primitives like “peek” and “poke,” enabling seamless data editing & integration with smart contracts. This prototype unlocks new possibilities for developers building high-performance Web3 applications, with blockchain-grade security.
Enhanced XandMiner & Pod Monitor: Stats and Analytics
A standout feature of Munich is the updated XandMiner, our user-friendly pNode management web gui. XandMiner makes managing, updating, and managing storage dedication on your pNodes easier than ever. With the Munich release, our Pod Monitor software also has been updated, providing basic stats and analytics for your pNode and the broader pNode network, offering insights into performance, storage efficiency, and network health. Operators can monitor their contributions to Xandeum’s decentralized file system, ensuring optimal data distribution and redundancy. This upgrade empowers node operators to stay informed and maximize rewards, all while supporting Solana’s ecosystem growth.

Upgrade Now!
The Munich release is a critical update for pNode operators. It strengthens our decentralized storage layer and makes it possible for dApps to thrive. By upgrading, you’re helping power the next wave of Web3 innovation while more importantly, positioning yourself for future rewards and Xandeum Foundation delegation as we transition to mainnet. This is the final release requiring a manual command-line update, our team is developing a one-click solution to streamline future upgrades, making participation in the Xandeum ecosystem even easier. Don’t miss out on this historic milestone for our first ever working prototype.
Get Started with Upgrading your pNode
Ready to join the South Era? We’ve made updating your pNode from Freiburg to Munich straightforward. Follow the steps in our tutorial below or follow our official tutorial here:https://pnodes.xandeum.network/pnode-update-version
Upgrade in 3 Easy Steps
1. Open Command Prompt / Terminal Connect to your pNode via SSH, forwarding the proper ports into the localhost of the pNode.
Copy into Command Prompt / Terminal: Windows:
ssh -i "C:\path to ssh key\id_ed25519.pub" root@<my.p.node.ip> -L 4000:localhost:4000 -L 3000:localhost:3000Mac / Linux:
ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_ed25519 root@<my.p.node.ip> -L 4000:localhost:4000 -L 3000:localhost:3000Note: Make sure to replace <my.p.node.ip> with your pNode IP Address
2. Run the newest version of the install.sh script, and use Option 2 to Upgrade
Copy into Command Prompt / Terminal:
wget -O install.sh "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Xandeum/xandminer-installer/refs/heads/master/install.sh" && chmod a+x install.sh && ./install.sh
Note: After running Option 2, Wait for the completion messages. It may take several minutes and will look like this when done:
3. Go to your local web browser and check your XandMiner status in the web GUI
Copy into Browser:
http://localhost:3000/
